Namakkal district is one of the key inland districts of Tamil Nadu and is widely known for poultry farming, egg production and transport-related industries. As per Census 2011, the district had a total population of 17.27 lakh, with 8.69 lakh males and 8.57 lakh females. Population estimate pages place the 2026 population between 18.50 lakh and 20.39 lakh, depending on the calculation model used.
